There are two main types of timber flooring:
- Hardwood Flooring
- Engineered Flooring
Hardwood floors are made from planks milled from a single piece of timber.
Hardwood floors are generally thicker and harder wearing than engineered timber floors and can be sanded and finished more.
Solid wood floors are usually 19mm with a tongue and groove for installation.
Engineered wood Flooring consists of 2 or more layers of wood adhered together to form planks.
Engineered wood flooring has increased stability due to each layer running at a 90 degree angle to the one above.
This stability means it can be laid over any type of subfloor and will be less likely to warp or gape due to excessive heat , moisture or humidity.
